Overview
Shillong is the capital and hill station of Meghalaya, also known as "The Abode of Clouds", one of the smallest states in India. It is the headquarters of the East Khasi Hills district and is situated at an average altitude of 4,908 feet (1,496 m) above sea level. There are a lot of quiet places to visit in Shillong. The destination is one of the quaintest places in India and many tourist places in Shillong remain all-time favorites among travelers. The attractions here are more on the natural side. Some of the places that you just cannot miss are Elephant Falls, Ward's Lake, Shillong Peak, Umiam Lake, and Elephant Falls. Other than these, there is the Don Bosco Museum too. Police Bazar is the main market place of Shillong. Major hotels and multi-cuisine restaurants are located in the region. The market is also very popular among tourists who come here to shop and enjoy night life
