Kotagede is form of some kampung which used to be a Palace area of Mataram Islam in 16th century. It has a concept of Catur Gatra Tunggal that consist of Mosque (religion), Market (economic), Palace (goverment), and Square (public). As the time goes by, starting from the royal era, colonialism, independence and modern era there is a uniqueness in the forms of architecture, culinary, social life, and local wisdom that become into the cultural frame of the locals. in the end you will enjoy the coffee break at javanese house in rukunan alley.

Itinerary
Stop 1
Our local guide will meet you and guide you during the tour. It brings you into some stops such as Kings tomb with special dress. In the cemetery area also lied Masjid Gedhe Mataram (the oldest mosque in Yogyakarta). in this area, you will also see the spring names Sendang Selirang
Stop 2
exploring traditional houses that are lived by local and also enjoying the tradisional snack. There is a term, “rukunan”. It describes a condition Javanese residence where the owners have an agreement to make the part of their house to be an a way that connects between one house to another, So that everyone can access with some condition. The interesting thing is that the ownership status doesn’t belong to Sultanate.
Stop 3
Pasar Kotagede is a local and oldest market in the southern of java. There, you can find local food, snack, fruit, vegetable, herbs, kitchen stuff, and many more. You can see the making process of jamu (traditional herbs drink) and try it. The interesting thing is that you will see and experience how the locals bargain in traditional market.
