Overview
Samarqand is one of the oldest cities in the world. According to archaeological data, in the VIII century BC it was the center of the historical region and the state of Sogdiana. The city was a key point on the Great Silk Road between China and Europe for more than two thousand years, as well as one of the main centers of science of the medieval East. Samarqand is only 40 km from the border of Tajikistan (Penjikent), which is very accessible for tour events. A tour to Samarkand is a tour to the past.
