Itinerary
Stop 1
We will start the trip from Samarkand city and head to the border (checkpoint Dzhartepa) with Tajikistan which is located 40 km from Samarkand
Stop 2
The main mosque of the city which was built by skilled craftsmen with many handmade details The ceiling and columns look especially amazing. The minaret imitates the brickwork of the samanida mausoleum in Bukhara
Stop 3
In front of the mosque there is a Central Bazaar where you can get acquainted with the local social life and do not forget to buy dried apricots, because they are special in Tajikistan
Stop 4
The ancient city that was destroyed by the Arabs is a great source of pre-Arab wall paintings. All the frescoes found during the Soviet period are now considered one of the important collections of the Hermitage Museum. From the hills you can see the entire city of Penjikent which is considered one of the best combinations of local villages with Soviet multi storey buildings.
