We pedal through the oldest district towards Dihua Street, & the coolest neighborhood voted in 2023, past grand architecture, immaculate temples, and more! Listen to fun facts about Dihua Street, Tianma Tea House Ruins, Baoan Temple, and more from your guide as you explore by bike. We will also get a local Taiwanese snack to refuel ourselves at a traditional market. We meet up at the Taipei Bike Works bike shop to start the tour. Itinerary
Stop 1
A historical landmark that was central to events that, as they unfolded, it created the future of Taiwan - from Martial Law until today.
Stop 2
A 19th-century riverside trading hub for herbs, medicines, dried goods, fabrics, teas, and other products.
Stop 3
A spacious and scenic bike path along an expansive river with open skyline views.
Stop 4
Bao'an is a temple built in 1825 at the confluence of Tamsui and Keelung rivers that took a full-quarter century to complete. Right across from it, in stark contrast, stands the Taipei Confucius Temple - its simplicity dominating the architecture and characteristics of this temple.
Stop 5
Built in 1969, overlooking the Keelung river, placed right next to the Grand Hotel Taipei - a shrine that worships fallen soldiers during the Sino-Japanese War & the Chinese Civil War.
Stop 6
A recreational facility that includes three typical park areas - Yuanshan, Taipei Fine Arts Museum, and Xinsheng - a popular area for expos, exhibitions, markets, & other events
Stop 7
A district now with various Japanese bars and restaurants, and a rich night life with adult entertainment. This area carries lots of stories from the depths of Taiwan's history, as well as the city's.
Stop 8
Voted one of the '40 Coolest Neighborhoods in the World 2023' according to the British magazine Time Out.
Stop 9
We end the tour back at the starting point at our office. Optional - follow our guide for some introductory recommendations at our favorite night market - Ningxia Night market, closely located to the shop, only a 5 minute walk.
