Step back in time and stroll through the historical Udatsu District in a traditional kimono, where the charm of the Edo to Meiji eras remains alive. Be transformed with professional kimono dressing and immerse yourself in the ambiance of old Japan. A local guide will explain the town's rich history, the meaning of âudatsu,â and the skills of local artisans. Perfect for couples, friends, or girlsâ trips â a relaxing and memorable 3 - hour experience. In case of rain, the outdoor walking tour will be replaced with a kimono dressing class indoors. Please note that kimono strolls will not be conducted in rainy weather. Additionally, depending on the season (typically from June to October), yukata provided instead of kimono.

Stop 3
Yoshida Residence (Mima City, Tokushima Prefecture) The Yoshida Residence is a historic merchant house preserving the atmosphere of the late Edo period. Located in Wakimachi's "Udatsu Townscape," it once belonged to Naobei Yoshida, a wealthy indigo merchant from 1792. The layoutâwith the main house and storehouses surrounding a courtyardâoffers a vivid glimpse into the past. Visitors can explore meeting rooms, accounting offices, and servant quarters, as well as remaining of a boat landing that reflects the trade along the Yoshino River. Together with the surrounding traditional architecture, this spot offers a tangible sense of local history and culture. *An admission fee of 510 yen is required to enter this spot. (Approx. 30 minutes needed)

Traditional Japanese Umbrella Workshop Nestled in Wakimachiâs historic streets, this workshop showcases the delicate craft of traditional Japanese umbrellas. Visitors can observe the making process and shop for beautifully crafted umbrellas and small handmade itemsâa glimpse into Japanâs elegant artisan culture.

Aigura (Indigo-Dyed Goods Shop at Ailand Udatsu) A specialty shop dedicated to Tokushimaâs iconic indigo dyeing (Awa-ai), Aigura offers a range of beautifully dyed scarves, textiles, and souvenirs. A relaxing stop where you can shop and explore the regionâs deep blue cultural heritage.
Stop 6
Bamboo Dolls & Handicrafts Known for its charming bamboo dolls inspired by the Awa Odori dance, this small artisan shop offers a unique window into Tokushimaâs traditional bamboo craft. Youâll also find bamboo accessories like chopsticks and hairpinsâperfect local souvenirs.
