Overview
Bago, formerly known as Hanthawaddy, is a city and the capital of the Bago Region in Myanmar. It is located 91 kilometres north-east of Yangon. Very suitable day trip for those interested in pagodas and temples, and itâs another popular localsâ pilgrim site. Bago is an excellent place to go as a day escape from Yangon and we can see the remains of a former capital, temples, pagodas and monastery. Shwemawdaw Pagoda (the tallest temple in whole Myanmar).Kyaikpun Pagoda, Shwetharlyaung Buddha Image, Kanbawzathardy Palace and some workshops such as pottery and recycle plastic basket workshop to look around. Hinthargone is the birth place for Bago city and one can see the birdâs eye view of the city. During the King Bayintnaungâs period, Hantharwady Dynasty was Myanmarâs biggest emperor ever. European visitors knew as Pegu and very important seaport around 17th Century. We can catch a train at 3pm in Bago station to go back to Yangon if wanted. Lunch will be served at local restaurant.

We can visit to bustling local markets and Allied War Cemetery for a walk.

On the way to Bago, we can stop in one nice resort Shwe Pyi where we can take a walk, see wood arts collection and feel great nature and tranquil lake.
Stop 3
Bago City. 15th Century Mon dynasty was established and we can visit monastery, temples, pagodas and workshops. 37 Nat home to experience if interested in animist belief in Myanmar. Babo is quite popular people seriously believe in Royal Mother of Bago.
Stop 4
Bago train station. Nice experience to go back Yangon with a train journey through green paddy fields and open sky.
