Itinerary
Stop 1
From Yerevan to Gntunik it takes one hour and a half where we will enjoy freshly baked pastry in the morning from a bakery in Aparan.
Stop 2
On the way to Sanahain Monastery we pass by the highest mountain in Armenia. With its four peaks Mount Aragats stand tall at 4,096 meters. In the middle of this beautiful mountain there is also a creator as it was once an active volcano.
Stop 3
This UNESCO Heritage sight was built in 966 AD, with its serene and tranquil surrounds, it was one of the most important cultural, religious and educational site. Built in the honor of Gurgen and Smbat Bagratuis Sanahin was always under the patronage of the nobility. Explore the magnificent structures of Sanahin monastery and learn its legendary history.
Stop 4
Nestled in the peaks of the Debed Canyon Haghpat Monastery is the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in Armenia. Built in 976 AD its construction is closely related to its "sister" monastery Sanahin. Explore the picturesque monastic complex, admire the classical Armenian murals, learn the romantic history of Sayat-Nova and much more.
Stop 5
Taste the famous Armenian BBQ in local home with the greatest views to the Debed Canyon. Learn more about the local village life and enjoy the local homemade food.
Stop 6
Akhtala or Pghndzevank Monastery is famous for its iconic 13th century frescos done in the classical Byzantine style. The frescos of Akhtala Monastery are unique to all of Armenia and are of the greatest showcase of Byzantine art outside of Byzantine Empire. Stop 7
We will cross the Armenia-Georgia border at Bagratashen.
Stop 8
The final destination is the beautiful capital of Georgia, Tbilisi. After crossing the border we are going to drive straight to Tbilisi without stopping. The tour ends near Envoy Tbilisi, located in the Old Town.
